The Secessionists were a group of artists who wanted to break off from the Academy of art. They created their own museum (clubhouse, as Bob and I call it.) They were lucky because the city helped pay for the building too... That is where we are headed. We emerged from the subway to find ourselves here, in an example of a this kind of work by one of their leading architects, Otto Wagner, at Karlsplatz railway station.
